Definition of hero call
A hero call is when you make a really tough call. A hero call is when you call on the river with a weak hand and win on the showdown. A hero call is made when your opponent may have a failed draw that you beat. To make a good hero call, you need to have a good reading of your opponent. Hero calls can be similar to crying calls, calls that you make when you are not sure of the outcome.
An example of a hero call
You are in UTG position with a pair of 9s in your hand. You open to 3 big blinds and an aggressive player 3-bets you on the button. You call his 3bet while out of position.
