A time period can be 5 minutes, 10 minutes, round minutes or even longer in large tournaments. A round will have precise blinds and antes or not.

Example of several rounds of a tournament

Here is a typical example of different rounds of a tournament. The first round lasts 10 minutes. During this round, the blinds will be at 25/50 with no ante. After the 10 minutes of play, we will move on to the second round. During this round, the blinds will be at 50/100 and there will still be no ante. By analyzing the rounds, you can see if the structure is slow or not. If in round 10 the blinds are at 2500/5000 with ante at 500, you know that it is a fast structure. Depending on your objectives, it may or may not be good news. Generally, the longer the rounds, the more the tournament will benefit the good players since the variance will be decreased.
