Biography and performances
Stephen Chidwick was born in the UK in 1989. His professional career began in 2008. He played mostly online in freerolls at the time. In particular, he could be seen playing tournaments on Full Tilt Poker. His first big online performance came in 2009 when he finished 2nd in a FTOPS tournament for $142,155.30. He decided to invest this money in casino tournaments at major events. By 2010, he had won his first WSOP paid finishes. To date, Chidwick has 1 WSOP bracelet in a $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha tournament (in which he won $1.6 million), 13 WSOP final tables and 53 WSOP paid spots. He also has 3 paid places in World Poker Tour events and 12 paid places in European Poker Tour events. In his career, he has won over $50 million in casino poker tournaments! And that's not counting his online winnings! He is one of the biggest winners in history on the international circuit.
His biggest lifetime win
On 1 April 2019, Chidwick took part in a tournament called the £1,050,000 No Limit Hold'em, Triton Million for Charity. In this event, he finished 4th for a purse equivalent to just over US$5 million.
A regular at High Roller tournaments
Chidwick is one of the few poker players we regularly see in High Roller tournaments. Recently (2023), we saw him in a $25,000 tournament in the UK, as well as a $30,000, $125,000 and even, $250,000 buy-in tournament. Fortunately for him, the frequency with which he makes the money in these tournaments is relatively high, which partly explains his success. We also saw him at the WSOP 2023 in Las Vegas, where he made a few paid places. Chidwick is also one of the Elite Pro coaches on RunItOnce. For the moment, after the Covid-19 slowdown of recent years, he is playing poker full time. For the rest, he is very discreet about his personal life.
