Biography and performances
As a young man, Michael had plans to become a doctor, but abandoned his studies in the middle of his studies to become a full-time poker player. Although his poker career has always gone well, it was really in 2005 and 2006 that the poker world discovered the man who became known as "The Grinder". Those who were following the WSOP at the time remember him and his brother Robert, who is also an excellent player.
His exploits between 2005 and 2010
In 2005, Mizrachi was much in the news as that year he won 7 purses in World Series of Poker tournaments in Las Vegas, tying the all-time record. In 2006, he was named CardPlayer's Player of the Year for his excellent results and the frequency with which he rose to the top of the leaderboards in prestigious tournaments. In 2008, he finished 3rd in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship for $331,279. In 2009, he finished 2nd in the $ 5,000 + 150 No Limit Hold'em - Championship Event and in 2010, he won a WSOP bracelet in a high-stakes tournament, the $ 50,000 The Players Championship Event 8 Game (for just over 1.5 million US dollars). That year he was again named Player of the Year, this time by ALL IN magazine. Mizrachi is still active in the poker world and could be seen playing at the 2023 WSOP.
Poker player and also, family man
Away from the tables, Michael is also a father to 3 children (Paul, Julie and Joseph). Having always been someone for whom family is very important, back in the day Mizrachi said he bought a motor home so his family members could follow him when he was on the road playing major tournaments. Until 2016, he was married to Aidiliy Mizrachi (also a poker player). The couple eventually separated over "irreconcilable differences."
