Biography and performances
Fedor Holz is part of what you might call the new guard of poker players. At just 30 years of age, he has already amassed nearly $40 million in live tournament winnings (which does not include his online cash game winnings). In a very short space of time, he has gone from just another poker player to a global superstar.
A meteoric rise
His first performance came in 2012 when he finished 2nd in a tournament But his first big score would come two years later, when he won the World Championship of Online Poker for $1.3 million. His career as a poker star had just been launched. Despite his young age, he has 2 WSOP bracelets and 5 WSOP final tables to his name. With 40 million in tournament winnings, he is one of the biggest winners in live poker history.
Fedor Holz, retired or not?
To the surprise of many, Holz had announced in 2020 that he was retiring from poker to focus on other projects. In particular, he was working on a mental coaching app called Primed Mind (in collaboration with Elliott Roe, who had himself been his mental coach). But Holz made at least $2 million in poker between 2020 and 2022; not bad for a retiree! Asked about his contradictions, he says he still plays despite retirement, but twenty times less than before. He's not a grinder like he used to be, in his own words. Poker used to take up a lot of his energy, and he now prefers to save that energy for other projects that will make him happier.
