Biography and performances

German Koray Aldemir is best known for winning the 2021 WSOP Main Event. That year with his bracelet, he had his hands on US$8 million. In addition to this impressive performance, Aldemir has 4 final tables at WSOP events and 33 paid places. Born in Berlin, Germany, Aldemir now lives in Austria.

His online debut at PokerStars

Aldemir started playing poker in 2006 with friends at a family party. But it was really in 2008 that it all began when he started playing at PokerStars. In the early days, he played a lot of freerolls. His goal was simply to have fun. He played regularly without investing too much time in perfecting his game. But as he played more and more, he began to take poker more and more seriously. He studied his game and played tournaments with higher and higher buy-ins. A notable detail from his years playing online, his PokerStars account was banned for 4 years after he let a friend use his computer to send money to PokerStars.

His first recorded paid place was in a €200 tournament held in Berlin. In 2016, he participated in the $111,111 buy-in One Drop tournament. In the event, he finished 3rd for $2,154,265 (Fedor Holz won the tournament). In that year, he won 8 paid spots in his WSOP appearance, which is a feat in itself.

What is he doing today?

Koray still plays poker and was seen in many tournaments at the 2023 WSOP. He still lives in Austria where he had moved in order to study psychology at university. Despite having achieved his dream (winning a WSOP bracelet), he doesn't see the day when he will retire from poker.
