Biography and performances
Former High Stakes cash game player, WSOP winner, Hold'em player, variants player, and author of one of the biggest performances in French poker history, Julien Martini has shown in his young career the full extent and diversity of his talent. By dint of hard work and performance, he has become one of the Top players of his generation.
A native of Corsica, Julien Martini grew up in the Paris suburbs and frequented associative poker clubs during his youth. His professional career began at the age of 23. More of a cash game player, Julien studied the various aspects of the game alongside his friend and roommate James Chen. He moved to Taiwan and settled in from 2017 on the high limits, between the casinos of Taipei, Macau and Las Vegas. There, he takes on some of the best players on the planet, in Hold'em as well as variants, and builds up a bankroll.
The adrenaline of the High Stakes appeals to him, but Julien Martini craves more. Like many passionate players, the Frenchman has been dreaming of winning a bracelet in Las Vegas since he was a kid. The Corsican is putting the Cash Game on hold to concentrate on tournament poker. He will be rewarded as early as 2018.
From millions in Cash games to millions in MTTs
The harvest began at the WPT Elite Poker Champioonship festival, where he won the fifth stage at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, for 78,000 . A few weeks later, Julien realized his dream and won the WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo tournament. In the final heads-up he faced American Kate Hoang, who would later become his partner. At the end of the summer, he finished runner-up in the EPT National Barcelona in front of 4,348 players, pocketing a win of $323,000, his record at the time.
.This one won't last long. In January 2019, one of the biggest tournaments ever held in the world takes place: the PSPC Pokerstars Players Championship, in the Bahamas, at $25,000 per entry. Against the world's best players, Julien Martini will take 2nd place, beaten only by Ramon Colillas. The Frenchman will still console himself with a €2,974,000 hoard.
Newfound fame and the "Cash Game method"
His performance in the Bahamas brought him new notoriety. Having achieved one of the highest scores in the history of French poker, Julien Martini settles into the Top 10 of the French All-Time Money List.
During confinement, Julien Martini works on a Master Class dedicated to medium- and high-limit online cash game players. "Sa méthode Cash game", tested and applied on more than 125,000 hands will be released in May 2021.
