He was so popular in France in the 90s, that at the time it was even referred to as "Bruelmania". But Patrick Bruel isn't just a singer and actor, he's also a businessman and poker enthusiast. In fact, he has a few noteworthy performances on his record.
A passion for poker
As he's often said, Patrick Bruel loves poker. He mostly plays poker tournaments in prestigious live events (i.e., WPT, WSOP, EPT and tournaments sponsored by PokerStars and PartyPoker). According to the reference site Pokerdb, Bruel has won 1.6 million US dollars in prizepools at major tournaments. His best performance came in 2014, when he finished 4th in the $ 10,000 No Limit Hold'em - WPT LA Poker Classic Main Event, earning him $ 332,190. His last recorded performance was on May 5, 2023, when he finished 17th in the € 2,200 buy-in EPT Monte Carlo. For his performance, he won €7000.
Patrick Bruel, the businessman
In 2009, Patrick Bruel (a Winamax shareholder), along with Marc Simoncini, Alexandre Roos and Christophe Schaming, decided to obtain a license from the Autorité de Régulation des Jeux en Ligne (now the ANJ) so that Winamax could operate legally in France. It was at this point that Winamax's popularity really took off. Today, the Winamax room is a benchmark for French online poker players.
